Preparing the adoption draft

Results from the fourth Community Forum Series (priority survey & draft plan review) are available. The Citizens Advisory Task Force is reviewing public comments and revising the plan into January. Briefings with community organizations and City Boards & Commissions are also ongoing.

Adoption process

Once the Task Force has completed their revisions, they will forward an adoption draft of the plan to the Planning Commission, potentially as early as late January. Planning Commission will hold public hearings to review the plan. Upon Planning Commission's recommendation, Imagine Austin will move to the Austin City Council, who will hold public hearings to consider adopting the plan.

After adoption: implementing the plan

Once the plan is adopted, it will guide city policymaking and spending. An annual review and report process will provide for regular updates to the plan, as well as regular tracking of indicators. In addition, every five years, the plan will be reviewed to see if a major update is needed.
